The Process

How Cence
works.

Four steps from setting up your phone to a result that stands on its own. Every rule the engine judges by is published, every verdict names the rule it applied, and anything the camera cannot measure is labelled rather than guessed.

01

Record your reps

Prop your phone side-on, roughly hip height, six to ten feet back, with your whole body in frame. The app confirms your setup before the counter arms — if the angle cannot support the judgement being asked, it tells you to reposition instead of scoring you badly.

That refusal is deliberate. Squat depth is a comparison of two heights; from the front, that comparison does not exist at any level of tracking quality. A camera that scores anyway is guessing, so ours declines.

Overhead view. The camera sits square to the side of the movement, not in front of it.

02

Every rep gets a verdict

Each rep is judged individually against the published standard for that movement — not averaged, not sampled. Depth, lockout, position and tempo are read from your joints frame by frame, and the result is one of three outcomes.

✓ Counted

The rep met every criterion in the standard, and the supporting measures agreed. Your log shows the measured value it passed on.

No-count

The rep demonstrably missed a criterion. The verdict names the exact clause — and shows by how much, so it is arguable rather than final.

Unresolved

The measurements contradicted each other. Rather than pick one, the engine says it does not know. Unresolved reps never enter a leaderboard.

That third verdict is the part most systems do not have. Joint tracking is imperfect, and a system that always produces a confident number is hiding that fact rather than solving it. When our supporting measures disagree beyond published tolerance, the honest output is uncertainty.

The rate of unresolved reps is published per event. If it climbs, that is a tracking problem we disclose rather than quietly resolve into counts.

REP COMPLETES MEASURES AGREE? NO UNRESOLVED no leaderboard YES STANDARD MET? NO NO-COUNT clause + margin shown YES COUNTED measured value logged

Agreement is checked before the standard is applied. Uncertainty outranks both outcomes.

03

Enter a bracket

Browse open brackets by weight class before you commit. Field size, current top scores and your estimated placement are shown upfront — the estimate is labelled as an estimate, because it is one.

Entry is free for members. Rolling entry, fixed deadline, one submission. No resubmissions: what you send is what stands. Your weight comes from a scale reading captured on camera, never from the camera looking at you.

The machine sorts the field. People decide where money changes hands.

04

Rank, then share it

Your attempt was already filmed — that is how it got verified — and the overlay is part of the recording. The counter, the tracking, the flash on a rep that did not count. So the clip is the proof, not a screenshot of a number.

Posting is your choice, per attempt. Verification makes a clip eligible; it stays private until you send it. Trim it, blur the background, mute it, and it goes to the Cence feed or straight out to Instagram and TikTok with the overlay intact. You can pull it back down afterwards.

How it holds

Your friend will be identified as your referral, and you will be told if they cancel. Worth knowing before you send the link.

Referral terms are drafted and with counsel. They are not yet in force, and nothing here is an offer until they are published. These are the rates and conditions we intend to run; if any of it changes before launch, this page changes first.

Set the phone down and go.
